Client: Hodder + Partners
The imposing 37-storey Student Castle located close to Oxford Road Train Station is Manchester’s second tallest building, housing more than 500 rooms for students of the nearby universities.
Stirling prizewinning architects Hodder + Partners commissioned ArcMedia to create series of visually verified montage CGIs (VVMs) to support the planning submission. Due to the height of the proposed scheme and its landmark location, the planning authority was keen to see specific views of how it would look when seen from the main gateways to the city.
Six original viewpoints were requested during early discussions with planning department, followed by a series of elevation treatments and materials as requested by the Commission for Architecture and the Built Environment, a non-statutory consultee asked by the council to assess the quality of the scheme.
Following CABE’s request for more detailed information, ArcMedia also produced a series of additional, detailed images to demonstrate the design quality of the elevations.
