Gateway House

Client: Hodder + Partners

One of Manchesters most recognisable buildings in the Piccadilly area of the city, the curving Gateway House it situated on the main station approach with offices located above the ground floor retail parade.

As part of a proposal to refurbish the 140,000 sq ft building, award-winning architecture practice Hodder + Partners approached ArcMedia to create series of photomontage images to support the planning application being made on behalf of owner and developer Realty Estates.

In addition to visualising the proposed rear extension to the building, the designers incorporated an illuminated facade, highlighting the unique ‘lazy s’ shape of the building, with horizontal series of variable LEDs giving a sense of movement and reflecting the flow of people to and from the station. ArcMedia’s still images had to convey this movement and a series of dusk shots were prepared to demonstrate its effect.
